A retain destination for locals and travellers enhanced by a revstored wetland environment
Greenwood Associates were commissioned to complete the landscape architecture of the The Grange retail development in Warkworth. The Grange is located on State Highway 1 on a highly visible site on the eastern side of Warkworth township. Over 5,000,000 cars drive past the site each year and it thereby offers a unique opportunity for retailers and service providers to position their businesses on State Highway 1. It is also a very convenient shopping centre for local residents of the new subdivisions located nearby. With approximately 7,067m2 of retail space The Grange is anchored by a drive-through McDonald’s restaurant and a BP service station at its entrance. The rest of the Centre is modelled around a main street environment with a restaurant precinct at the northern end, which is designed to enjoy the outlook over the stream corridor. A central plaza open space gives amenity to the customer, and convenience retail tenancies configured to open onto and activate this space. A key feature of the development which was completed in 2016, is the landscaping and design to maximise visibility from the road and ensure retailers and service providers can take advantage of the huge traffic volumes passing the site. Mixed use development requiring streetscape design and revegetation stream planting. We completed design for the streetscape planting and furniture, central plaza deck, suspension bridge, cycle trails to adjacent residential areas and extensive native revegetation of stream banks and wetlands to the east and west of the site.
