McDonalds Restaurant – Raumanga, Whangarei

Our Work

McDonalds Restaurant – Raumanga, Whangarei

We employed a primarily native plant palette and used raw, earthy materials such as corten, macrocarpa and local Whangarei stone to create modern shapes and lines.

We worked with ASC Architects to deliver what we believe is one of the most unique and chic McDonalds Restaurants in the country. Our brief was to design a McDonalds landscape with a distinct difference; we wanted to complement the rural setting of the area and pay tribute to the historic farming heritage of the site. We employed a primarily native plant palette and used raw, earthy materials such as corten, macrocarpa and local Whangarei stone to create modern shapes and lines. The result is anglular corten retaining walls along the street frontage, bold, block planting at varying heights and pockets of stacked Whangarei stone creating dynamic contrasts between hard and soft across the entire site. The outdoor dining area and furniture ties in with this raw material palette to unify and integrate the architecture with the landscape.
